I have read more than 10 investing books. Why so many? I was searching for answers. Each book gave a different perspective and most of the books answered most of my beginner questions. Out of the 10 books there are 2 books that increased my knowledge the most. The book “Learn to Earn” by Peter Lynch (money manager) focused on long term investing.
I was surprised to know that 5th graders were taught to invest by selecting the company products they were most familiar with. This taught me you should get familiar with the business and get to know the products the company sells before owning the company.
The Warren Buffet Way by Robert G. Hagstrom – page 161 explains how he started acquiring the stock of an insurance company, GEICO. The book also reveals how Warren Buffet selects businesses to own. Warren Buffet states the business should be simple and understandable. The book walks thru example companies like Coca Cola, H.J.Heinz and Wells Fargo.
A quote from the book.. Knowledge is what defines the difference between investment and speculation.
This page is an example page from her journal. If you are following along, you can journal about the investing books you’ve read and what did you learn?
